India defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series.

India ended its tour of Sri Lanka on a high note, comprehensively defeating the home team by 67 runs in the third and final ODI in Colombo on Sunday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, India posted a mammoth total of 390/5 on the board, thanks to a brilliant century from Shubman Gill and a half-century from skipper Virat Kohli.

Sri Lanka's bowlers were taken to the cleaners right from the start, with Gill and Rohit Sharma (42) providing India with a solid start. The duo put on 95 runs for the first wicket before Sharma was dismissed by Dushmantha Chameera.

Gill continued to anchor the innings and brought up his century off just 89 deliveries. He eventually fell for 116, but not before sharing a 131-run partnership with Kohli.

Kohli also played a captain's knock, scoring 66 off 79 balls before being dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga. Shreyas Iyer (38) and KL Rahul (39*) also made valuable contributions as India finished their innings with a flourish.

In reply, Sri Lanka never really got going in their chase. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 323 in 49.1 overs.

Opener Pathum Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 72, while Charith Asalanka made 65 and Chamika Karunaratne scored 44. However, none of the other batsmen were able to make a substantial contribution.

India's bowlers were disciplined and accurate, with Mohammed Shami (2/54) and Prasidh Krishna (2/69) picking up two wickets each. Yuzvendra Chahal (1/52) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/74) also chipped in with important wickets.

The victory gives India a 2-1 series win and will serve as a major confidence boost ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.
